Food, an issue of collective deliberation

The installation of a student solidarity grocery shop aims to create a friendly place for students and managed by students in order to fight against student poverty. The creation of solidarity grocery shops on the University's campuses would make it possible to meet three objectives:

1. To fight against student poverty and social and economic exclusion;
2. To contribute to the academic success of each student;
3. To promote a responsible lifestyle of solidarity.

The solidarity grocery shop must also serve as a place of life where events are organized to raise awareness of food, ecology and the ecological transition.

Several student solidarity grocery shops have already been set up in France, most of them under the AGORAé label. Around thirty AGORAé have been created since 2011 in several French universities. The University of Paris-Est Créteil would like to go further, by allowing students in need to obtain foodstuffs free of charge or at a very low cost, without any prerequisites for students.

Student solidarity grocery shops would be managed by student associations or by a group of volunteer students.
