🔎 What is the Student Citizens' Assembly?

The Ecole Internationale d'Etudes Politiques (EEP) and the Living lab Algopo are organizing the first Student Citizens' Assembly of the University Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC). This participatory mechanism aims to respond to local issues, at the level of the university and the local authorities. The convention's mandate is to define a series of measures and recommendations on the theme of food, in order to respond to the environmental emergency in a spirit of social justice and taking into account health issues. 

In the footsteps of the Citizens' Climate Convention, the Student Citizens' Assembly aims to contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from food. It aims to act on the entire food production chain through proposals decided in a democratic and horizontal manner through five themes:  

• Production
• Supply
• consumption
• Wastes treatment
• Awareness and governance

📅 Official Schedule

The Convention ran from 23 September to 20 November 2021.

The first meeting took place from 23 to 25 September 2021 in Fontainebleau. During this first meeting, the participants were able to exchange, debate and formulate a first series of proposals to respond to food-related issues.

The second phase of deliberation took place from 27 September to 18 November online, on this platform. During this phase, participants not only discussed and amended the first text of proposals drawn up at the end of the first meeting, but also submitted new proposals.

The third and final stage of the convention was held on 19 and 20 November in Créteil. The closing of the Convention allowed the participants to finalise and vote on a set of ambitions, proposals and measures.
