About this process
🌿👩🏽💻 How to think the digital in the context of the environmental crisis?
What is the Student Citizens' Assembly ? 🔎
The Institut d'Études Politiques (IEP) and Living lab Algopo have organized the second edition of the Student Citizens' Assembly (SCA) at the University of Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC). This participatory mechanism aims to respond to important societal issues, at the level of the university and the local authorities. This year, the convention's mandate is to define a series of measures, orientations and recommendations on the theme "Which digital for which society?
The aim of this Student Citizens' Assembly is to reflect, problematize, raise awareness and act on our use of digital tools through proposals, measures and recommendations decided in a democratic and horizontal manner through five themes, two of which will also be transversal axes.
These two fundamental themes will be at the centre of the reflections in order to ensure that they are respected and to make the University a responsible and committed place. Students will also be able to reflect on these two themes in deliberative groups.
The themes of the SCA 2022 are :
- Digital inclusion
- Educational digital
- Digital Citizenship
- Health and digital
The two transversal axes are:
- Ecology,
- Rights and fundamental freedoms.
📅 Official schedule
The Convention will run from October 10 to December 9, 2022.
The first meeting took place from 10 to 12 October 2022 in Fontainebleau. During this first meeting, the participants exchanged, debated and formulated a first series of proposals to respond to the challenges linked to digital technology.
The second deliberation phase took place from 13 October to 7 December 2022 online on this platform. During this phase, participants not only discussed and amended the first text of proposals drawn up at the end of the first meeting, but they will also be able to submit new proposals. During this deliberation phase, numerous events have been organized and various thematic meetings will allow participants to continue the reflection initiated in the different working groups. These workshops took different forms, such as deliberations, conferences, forum theatre or hackathon. They have sometimes been organized with partners and secondary schools in their premises, but also in Créteil, Fontainebleau and online.
The third and final stage of the Convention hold on 8 and 9 December in Créteil. The closing of the Convention will allow the participants to finalise and vote on a set of ambitions, proposals and measures.
